Viviane Liao is currently conducting studies for her senior honors thesis, focusing on the microbiome-mediated effects of antibiotics on the mitochondria. As mitochondria are heavily involved in regulating metabolism, they are of particular interest in understanding the mechanisms through which microbiota dysbiosis may lead to metabolic pathologies like obesity.
